Step by step

From arrest to release

  1. 01

    Arrested or formally charged

  2. 02

    Interim bond set

Either from a schedule or call in from a magistrate.

  3. 03

Court arraignment the same or next day after arrest

This pertains to individuals being accused of certain misdemeanors and felonies.

  4. 04

    Bond is set

This is to ensure the offender's appearance in court.

  5. 05

    Bail postingWe handle this

Bail is posted where the defendant is being held. Once deposited the defendant can be released barring any issues such as other warrants or electronic monitoring orders.

  6. 06

    Defendant's appearance in court

Bond(s) are good for the duration of the case. However, they are revocable for failing to appear in court or violating bond conditions.

  7. 07

    Release of responsibility

If the defendant has met all bond conditions and the case has been resolved, the following will result: If money bail was deposited by a third-party person with the court, the bond will be returned minus administrative fees from the court. If a surety bondsman was used, responsibility to said bondsman would be concluded and any collateral that may have been pledged would be released.

Types of bonds

Which bond applies to you?

Cash or Surety

The full amount of the bond must be pledged with the court, cash deposited by defendant, individual or through an approved surety agent (bondsman).

10% Bond

Individuals can post 10% of the full amount of the bond set with the court or can use an approved bondsman, in which he/she is required to deposit 25% of the face amount with the court.

Personal Bond

The defendant signs himself out with a promise to pay the court in the event of a default. No monies deposited or exchanged.

Example

$100,000.00 bond. An individual deposits $10,000.00 with the court. Using the same example, the bondsman would have to deposit $25,000.00 (25%) with the court; however, the fee to the family would be $2,500, 10% of what is deposited.
